Dear fellow readers,
I recently read an article from NBC News, a new term used by a few celebrities such as Emma Watson. They are reframing traditionally negative statuses and helping remove the stigma. Sometimes approaching a milestone such as a birthday, inevitably forces us to evaluate what we've achieved and where we feel we've fallen short - both personally and professionally. It's about changing the general term "single" to "self-partnered".
What does this mean? Self-partnering focuses on being happy and complete as a solo individual. A self-partnered person would feel whole and fulfilled within the self and does not feel compelled to seek fulfillment through having another person as a partner. It does not necessarily mean a self-partnered person doesn't date or never hopes to get married someday. They're just taking the time to know themselves first. For a person to feel truly self-partnered, it's important to invest a great deal of time and energy in personal development.
Yesterday, I made a confident manoeuvre at a gym. I usually wear a top with my sportswear but I decided just to be in my sports bra. I tried to be confident and I felt confident. Independence and self-partnering are not easy to do when someone isn't used to being alone. One step at a time... I'm getting there! Until next read... ciao!
